Since
I couldn’t find words to express my feeling and my admiration to Tirunesh I
looked for assistance from the social media to help me get the words.
Yes , in fact , after her spectacular win Tirunesh Dibaba was trending on
tweeter. Abiye Teklemariam was right
when he told us in his facebook Status update earlier in the day: “Tirunesh day! No politics today.” Yes! It was Tirunesh’s day!!! And she made our day!!! Read
some of the reactions about her amazing performance.
“Dibaba born to run and to rule”
IAN
O'RIORDAN in London
“OLYMPICS: OPENING
NIGHT in the Olympic Stadium, and if they packed the place out expecting some
theatre, they ended up witnessing a truly royal coronation.
Because
if Tirunesh Dibaba wasn’t already considered royalty in Ethiopia she will be
now, her gold medal performance in the women’s 10,000m a crowning glory that
stands out even in this great monarchy of distance running. Born to rule, not
just to run.
Not
even her great rivals got close this time – Dibaba defended the title won in
Beijing with a last lap of the highest order, raising both arms aloft as she
crossed the line, looking every bit the queen of the track in the process.”

Tirunesh after the race
said
“ I have never been happier
than today. This is very special. I have worked very hard for this. Ethiopians
gave me a lot of responsibility and I was worried about that because I was not
in my best form.” But as we all have seen , that was just what she had in her
mind. What she has shown on the track stunned everybody.

Silver medalist Kipyego said:
“It’s always a very
tactical race when you come to the Olympics but for me I wanted to be as smooth
as I can. At the end I was just hanging for dear life I would be lying if I
said that I had any more energy to run with Dibaba. She was quick and she took
off and when I saw that I didn’t have anything to respond. I was just thinking
if I go with her I might not finish this race.”

Vincent Kompany- the Man
City Player tweeted
“Any one seen that?? The
way Dibaba took off in the last lap of the 10000 M women… WOW! Great Champion."
Nigel de Jong, another Man
City player tweeted
"What about the last lap of
Dibaba on the Women’s 10 K? Just switched to a different gear."

Christopher Clarey
Tirunesh Dibaba does not
run. She floats.

Vivian Cherviyot the Bronze
medalist in the same race who was expecting and was expected to be a contender
for the gold said
‘Towards the end I thought
we were all suffering. So I was surprised to see Tirunesh take off the way she
did.” By the way, it now means Vivian finished behind Tirunesh 16 times out of
18 encounters between the two.

Gary Allen
Tirunesh Dibaba made our US
team and the rest of the world look like Nigeria trying to play basketball
against NBA players. A blistering 62 last lap sealed the golden deal. Wow! Mena
while, the east Africans showed us they are here to play.
